Smart Societies presents papers at Hybrid Human-AI conference
Researchers from the impact coalition Smart Societies presented two papers at the third edition of the Hybrid Human-AI conference (HHAI2024) in Malmö. These papers are the result of ongoing collaborations between the UT and VU Amsterdam. The conference brought together an international audience of researchers in the field of Human-AI.
The paper ‘Assessing the HI-ness of Virtual Heritage Applications with Knowledge Engineering’ was written by researchers Delaram Javdani Rikhtehgar, Shenghui Wang and Dirk Heylen from the UT, along with Ilaria Tiddi and Stefan Schlobach from VU Amsterdam. The paper discusses the methodological structuring of research on an interactive virtual agent, applied in the cultural heritage domain.
The paper ‘Using Default Logic to Create Adaptable User Models for Behaviour Support Agents’ was presented by UT PhD candidate Johanna Wolff, with supervisors Victor de Boer from VU Amsterdam and Dirk Heylen and M. Birna van Riemsdijk from the UT. This paper addresses the use of a specific type of logic to manage inevitable inconsistencies that arise when users interact with behaviour-supporting tools, such as a mobile app that suggests healthy lifestyle choices.
Both projects are funded by the Hybrid Intelligence Centre, which brings together researchers from various Dutch universities, including VU Amsterdam and the UT, focusing on Huma-AI. The two papers are available online as Open Access publications.
