Virtual museum guide wins prize for best demo

From 13 to 17 June, the first international conference on Hybrid Human-Artificial Intelligence (HHAI2022) was held at VU Amsterdam. At the conference, researchers Dou Liu, Claudia Libbi and Delaram Javdani Rikhtehgar won the award for best demo for their virtual museum guide. The further development of the demo is made possible by funding from the internal call. The guide has been developed within the project line Interactive Inclusive Heritage within the Smart Areas focus area. In this project, research is conducted into how new and interactive technologies can add value to traditional museums and cultural heritage sites.

The conference provided a good opportunity for the researchers to showcase a product of the UT - VU Amsterdam collaboration, talk about inclusive, interactive cultural heritage and receive feedback, ideas and inspiration from fellow scientists doing cutting edge research in a highly relevant field.

One of the topics of the conference was whether AI can be used in an interactive and useful way to keep visitors engaged. This is an important direction for the further development of the demo. The researchers would like all visitors to have their own personal experience.

The further development of the demo is made possible by funding from the internal call. Experienced research assistants have been recruited to further refine and extend the demo. In addition, user tests and feedback sessions with stakeholders, partners and fellow researchers will take place soon.
