The start of the bachelor of Creative Technology programme (CreaTe) at VU Amsterdam in 2023 is getting closer. CreaTe is a technical study programme that is accessible with all VWO profiles and has been successful at the UT for many years. Alma Schaafstal is the project leader for setting up the branch on behalf of the UT and blogs fortnightly about the road to Amsterdam.
Creative Technology @VU @UT – Spring is in the air
‘Do you know that feeling of early spring? That you see the trees and bushes forming buds and that the crocuses and daffodils are blooming? That's how it feels for me at the moment in working with VU Amsterdam. At first, it seemed like radio silence from the VU Amsterdam, but now I know that behind the scenes everyone and everything has been put in place to work with the people of Twente. For the first time, we are all going to work together on the curriculum. And not online but physically in Amsterdam. It is great to work together and to get to know and understand each other better. I am really excited and I am certainly not the only one!
Meanwhile, behind the scenes, the final preparations have been made for the final decision-making by the Executive Board and the employee participation body. And some minor details have been ironed out as well. Sometimes you don't see the details until you're ready to....
Recently, it also felt as if a present had been thrown over the fence. Brandwebbing, the agency that helps us find the right positioning for CreaTe, delivered its first concepts. The agency came up with For the Love of Inventing and Let Technology Empower Your Creativity. What would prospective students be most affected by and what is the best image to go with these words?
We haven't quite figured it out yet, but we are already pleasantly surprised by the research that Brandwebbing has been doing. The results were heart-warming. The CreaTe community feeling was praised by the interviewed students and teachers and there was much appreciation for the fact that both groups shape the education of CreaTe together. Students also think we should be more proud of CreaTe. These are beautiful values and striking remarks. It is important to take these to VU Amsterdam as well.’
