From open days to graduation: the full cycle of a CreaTe student. A look back at some remarkable weeks!

Open Days, the start of a life cycle

These past weeks have been special, as we’ve witnessed a full cycle in the life of a CreaTe bachelor student – from Open Days at the University of Twente (UT) and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) to the bachelor graduation ceremony in Enschede. And with such a cycle come different emotions: from curious, sometimes hesitant prospective students at the Open Days to confident, celebrating graduates at the ceremony. Once again, they impressed us with their outstanding graduation projects.

For the first time, we participated in the Open Days in Amsterdam – an exciting milestone we had been eagerly anticipating. With our best team on board, we found our place at the FGW and Beta Information Festival. Over two days, we presented our program six times to around 150 prospective students. In Amsterdam, we received fantastic support from our Mechanical Engineering colleagues, both during presentations and at the Information Festival. Their rocket and our Lightsaber were real crowd-pullers!

Experiencing Open Days at another university was insightful. We were delighted to see so many familiar faces in Amsterdam and grateful for the support of Antske Fokkens, who will be the face of the program in Amsterdam next year. But most of all, we were thrilled to meet all the prospective students and their parents. And let’s be honest – our student team promotes CreaTe like no one else. Huge kudos to them!

So, what’s next? The dust from the Open Days has settled, and the first students have already enrolled in Amsterdam. Now, we’re regrouping and reorganising to move forward at full speed. I look forward to many more life cycles in both Enschede and Amsterdam.
