- Innovative new business development, such as realizing a specific product/service or entering into a partnership with public/private partners;
- Preparation for innovative new “flagship” research funding, e.g. a grant application with a national/international consortium, with VU Amsterdam and UT as core partners.

- The proposal combines different disciplines from the two universities;
- The expect outcome has a demonstrable social contribution.
Who can apply?
- In particular, this call is designed to give young talent a chance. By young is meant maximum around 6 active years after PhD. Obviously, two young researchers VU and UT can form a group with more senior colleagues.
- In addition, academic staff involved in joint VU-UT education activities are invited to apply.
- If insufficient (or insufficiently high-quality) proposals are submitted by the above groups, other applications will be considered.
Budget
- Proposals should be aimed at a project budget between €40,000 and €50,000. The total budget available for the 2024 call is €400,000, from which 8-10 projects will be awarded funding.
- The budget is intended for personnel costs and/or other costs (e.g., equipment, supplies, publications, communication, travel).
Reporting of results
- Each project is expected to provide an intermediate and a final progress report.
- Each project is expected to communicate about the results and participate in joint events such as poster sessions on VU-UT exchange days.
