On to 2024

In the collaboration between the VU and UT, 2023 saw another great step towards achieving our ambitions. On the eve of 2024, we would like to look back at some milestones during this dynamic year.

In September this year, Creative Technology was launched in Amsterdam, our second joint bachelor's programme. In addition, the memorandum 'Alliance VU-UT 2030' was adopted by both boards. The memorandum is a further elaboration of the already existing 'VU-UT Ambition Document' and outlines where we want to be in terms of collaboration in 2030. Subsequently, the 'VU-UT Collaboration Agreement' between the two universities was also signed. A new call was launched in 2023. This led to 15 new collaboration projects, with one project even receiving funding by the Dutch Research Council NOW of 1 million euro’s. Our first joint student team 'RISE' presented its rocket, the Mk5, to a large audience in 2023. And two more inspiring and well-attended meetings took place in Amsterdam and Enschede for all colleagues involved in the collaboration.

2024 will be another exciting year, in which we will work hard to achieve our shared ambitions. We invite you to continue to follow all developments through our newsletters, the website and social media.

For now, we wish you all a cozy time under the Christmas tree: enjoy the presence of your family and friends, and hopefully a little peace and quiet. See you in 2024.

Amir Ametovic and Maria Mennen, programme leaders UT and VU Amsterdam.
