Building resilient societies
Natural disasters increasingly impact societies, demanding greater adaptability and resilience. Effective decision-making and communication during the reconstruction phase are crucial, yet these aspects remain underexplored in disaster-related research. In this project, researchers are developing a proposal to secure new funding for the creation of a Disaster Reconstruction Support Framework. This holistic framework will guide governments on risk communication and decision-making during disasters. It will be adaptable to local needs, conditions and the involvement of affected communities throughout the preparedness, prevention and recovery stages. This project aligns with VU-UT's research and impact agendas, addressing key social issues such as disaster resilience, prevention, access to safe housing, equity, vulnerability and civic engagement.
