Skills Check Tool encourages learning of academic skills
This research aims to foster innovation and integration in teaching academic skills to students in science programs. To support this, a Skills Check Tool has been developed to help educators critically assess academic skills within their courses or curricula. Academic skills are crucial in modern society as they enable interdisciplinary communication and enhance the valorisation of research across fields. With the Skills Check Tool, lecturers can evaluate how well different skills are integrated into their courses. The tool has already been applied to two undergraduate courses: Mechanical Engineering at the UT and Pharmaceutical Sciences at VU Amsterdam. To refine and expand the tool, more programs and courses will be assessed in the future.
